Banyula: A Proud Member of the Odonata Sanctuary Network

Banyula is one of five sanctuaries in Odonata's innovative SEASON network, and we're proud to be actively contributing to the conservation of Australia’s most threatened species. With our own feral-free enclosure already established, Banyula plays a critical role in protecting biodiversity as part of Odonata’s expanding sanctuary network.

Odonata's sanctuaries are key to the recovery of endangered species, offering safe havens where native wildlife can thrive without the threat of feral predators. The network has demonstrated proven, scientifically verified results, but to truly ensure the long-term survival of these species, more sanctuaries are needed. Expanding the network will increase genetic diversity, support a greater range of species, and mitigate climate and financial risks to ensure population resilience.

Rather than simply erecting fences, Odonata’s strategy focuses on selecting properties like Banyula that have high biodiversity potential. This approach maximises the impact of conservation efforts, ensuring that each sanctuary is not just a safe space, but a thriving ecosystem for endangered species.

We are committed to working with Odonata and other sanctuaries in the network to protect Australia's unique wildlife and ensure a future where these species can flourish.
